Brief Program Description

The MYSIS Academy
is a 3 - week long summer marine science academy
funded by Fleet Boston Foundation, for 30 incoming
9th grade students from the Boston Latin Academy
and J.D. O'Bryant Schools.
The program is field-based hands-on experiential learning that explores
the coastal marine environment of Massachusetts. Activities include:
- Biological, Chemical, and Physical Oceanography
- Coastal Marine Habitats
- Rocky Intertidal
- Sand Beach
- Salt Marsh
- Biodiversity
- Taxonomy and Systematics
- Fisheries Management
- Principles of Aquaculture
- Geographical Information Systems (GIS)
- Scientific Writing and Presentation
- Computing and Data Analysis
