The Engineering
is Elementary: Engineering and Technology Lessons for Children is
a curriculum development and professional development projects aimed
at promoting the learning and teaching of engineering and technology
by elementary school students and teachers. Engineering is Elementary is
creating curricular materials that integrate engineering and technology
concepts and skills with elementary science lessons. To support classroom
implementation, the project also offers professional development
workshops for elementary school teachers and curriculum coordinators
to help them acquire knowledge of and comfort with engineering concepts
and skills.
Each Engineering is Elementary unit focuses
on one elementary school science topic as well as one specific field
of engineering. Units are designed to engage students in the engineering
design process.

engineering content & related science content and highlights engineering
activities that children will do. Each story is narrated by a child
character from a different racial or ethnic background or country
and includes original illustrations. |

All
student materials are available in English and Spanish.
The materials are
designed to meet Massachusetts Technology/Engineering Frameworks and
the National Technology Standards.
