Student Challenge Awards Program
The Student Challenge Awards Program (SCAP) offers students aged 16-18 gifted
in the arts and humanities an opportunity to spend two to three intensive
weeks during the summer at a scientific research station. The aim is to excite
the students' imagination, expand their potential, and stimulate their curiosity
about science and technology. SCAP is a competitive fellowship program that
rewards creative thinkers and risk takers. The program is funded by an outside
donor and implemented by Earthwatch.
This program also aims to support the
research and education initiatives of scientists by providing mentoring opportunities,
research grants, and
the participation of talented high school students. The funder is especially
interested in exposing students to the latest technology and innovative research
equipment and projects based at research stations that expose students to
a diversity of research.
